Solar Powered House

October 28, 2007 Home and House | FamilyHelpTree @ 4:31 am

I have often dreamed of having a house that is one hundred percent powered by solar power. There is a large amount of sunlight year round and all day where I live and I believe a one hundred percent solar powered house is definitely a possibility. I am tired of paying the high energy bills and ever increasing electric costs to large corporations. I want to be self sufficient and help the environment. It is time for the BP Solar Decathlon. The BP Solar Decathlon features 20 different teams of university students from different universities across the world. The University teams must design a solar powered house, build the solar powered house, and operate the solar powered house under livable conditions. The solar powered house must be energy efficient and the only source of energy for the entire home. BP is teaming with the United States of America Department of Energy to sponsor the Solar Decathlon. The annual BP Solar Decathlon involves a week long competition in Washington, DC in the National Mall. This years BP Solar Decathlon runs from October 11 to October 19. BP is committed to developing clean energy solutions that are cost effective for everyday living use. Find out more about the BP Solar Decathlon at the BP Solar Decathlon blog at BP Solar Decathlon.com.
