my daughter also does something similar !
she has been walking since she was 10 months ( now 18 months old ) but about 3 months ago she got up one morning and just screamed when i put her on the ground and fell into a heap, not knowing something was wrong i let her cry for a while as she is often sooky in the mornings after 20 min or so she crawled off to play, i remember thinking why is she crawling ? but thought nothing of it at the time... a few days later when i noticed she was still crawling more than usual i talked to my bf about it and we decited to wait a few days and take her to the doctor, in that few days we noticed she would not jump , ride her trike , dance.... any or the things she would usualy do that involved her legs... and other things like she wont bend her knees when she get up or sits down.. she will bend forward and use her hands to sort of walk down to a laying on her tummy position and swivel to sitting up from there... and do the same but reverse to get up theres alot of other small thing as well. We took her to the doctor who couldnt tell us anything so he ordered an exray for the following day but told us to go to the hospital if we feel it cant wait till then... when we got home baby girl was still in pain and nurofen did nothing to help... we dicited to take her to the hospital to have the exrays done.
The exrays came back normal ( hips , legs , feet )
so they did some blood test that were also normal ( as far as i know it was only 2 tests for basic blood work like white blood cell count etc ) they discussed but ruled out arthritis ( i dont see how when they didnt test for it ) we were given a refferal to a specialist, we went and saw him and he had a few thought about it, he said that given her size ( shes a big girl, 14k at present ) and that shes been walking since 10 months ( unnasisted ) her body might not be able to handle it or something like that... he also said she may have to much calcium in her bones because she drinks so much formula 5-6 250ml bottles a day and suggested we dilutle the formula a bit so instead of 3 scoops she now has 1 and the bottle is only filled to 200ml..... He also said that it could be a mental thing as in shes doing it for attention but i dont think this is the case as she is in genuine pain and i dont see a 15 months old ( at the time it started ) being smart enough to know that " if i pretend this hurts mummy will pick me up " or " ok when they touch me here ill cry " i know my daughter well... and i can see when she is in pain as any mother can with there child, i feel that because i am a young mother the doctors are not taking me seriously with this.... the specialist charged us $280 for that information and said if we take his advice it should subside in a month or so...... its been just over two months and nothing has changed... i will be taking her to the childrens hospital as soon as i can see the local dr to get a refferal but i would love to hear some other parents thought about what's going on... it realy starting to get to me seeing her like this every day, theres times she will bend her legs with no hint of pain but a moment later she will be stiff again...

Out 26 months boy suddenly had a limp without complaining from any pain..he is walking and showing high will to play and jump. However, he is completely not in balance when he walks.I ask him if he feels pain and he just say no (he understands what is pain, bec many times he says yes for different things other than the limp) it has been for 3 days now. any idea?

Faisal, My daughter had similar symptoms...it turned out to be pyomyositis (muscle infection) very rare. they had to perform surgery to check what bacteria, it was Staph. treated with Pic line and antibiotics

@Faisal

In our case the limp resolved after 4 weeks. Talk it over with your doctor. Please also note that Ct scans and other types of long/complicated scans can be traumatic for children.

Our 24 month old recently recovered from a week long viral infection with high temperature etc. It has been approximateloy two weeks and he has got a limp in his left leg. We are very concerned. Took him to Emergency and doctor said it was probably the result of muscle strain. i highly doubt this as the limp comes and goes.Should i request a Ct scan?? Extremely worried.

Yolanda, we experienced the fevers with our youngest daughter (she has a twin brother). She would get these very high fevers once a month and there was nothing wrong with her. I was doing research on her brother who has had the worst constipation for over a year and found out that for some kids who have intollerances to dairy will have these unexplained fevers. My son is not able to eat dairy, soy or gluten (fun to find things for that). We took our daughter off of dairy in Feb and she has not had a fever since then. I took her off of soy and dairy since the intolerance can be to both. She drank rice milk and I made sure to supplement with other foods that have calcium and D in them. 5 months and fever free. I found this site and your comment because my son started limping two days ago, a small fever at the onset, no falls/injuries, not a very big appitite and very crabby. So hopefully we can both find some answers but if you have a chance, look up the dairy/fever connection. If she is over a year try taking the dairy away and see what happens. It's not an allergy and if you had her tested for allergies chances are she will be negative but it definitely worked for our daughter. Good luck!!

I have a 3 year old daughter. She has been having fevers for no reason at all at least 3 times a week for the pastyear and a half . This time around she got worse now she is been limping for a week . I took her to the ER beause that never happend to her before .The doctors thought that it was a virus or (toxic sinovitis) they did a lot of blood test on her and xrays they came out normal. I am very concern because she is not getting any better she is not able to run or do things like she used to. Tomorrow i have to take her again to the hospital to get an MRI done to see if they can come up with a diagnosis. i am very frustrated as a parent because i been telling my pediatrician that there is something wrong with my daughter and all i hear is that it is normal for a child her age to get alot of fevers.I just will like for doctors to start looking outside the box and not just say this behaivior is normal as a parent you know your children and you know that there is something wrong.

Keith,

Thank you for sharing your story. My heart and my prayers go out to you. It is definitely an indication that the limp began after the viral infection. I understand the uncertainty and the worry that you must have gone through. I am glad your sun is improving and hopefully he will make a full recovery.
