When your child is old enough to leave home

November 29, 2007 Family and Parenting | FamilyHelpTree @ 4:41 pm

When your child is old enough to leave home there can be a lot of mixed emotions. Many parents experience empty nest syndrome. It is important to support your child and make yourself available to them while still allowing them necessary freedom. Building trust is one of the most important things with children. Acting as a support during bad times and providing encouragement will help to foster a relationship. If your child asks you for help or your opinion give only what they ask and nothing more. Make sure to extend invitations to holidays and ask your child if there is anything they need.
