My nearly 2-year-old daughter has had this mystery rash for almost two weeks. we took her to the doctor twice in that time, and the doctor doesn't know what it is. After the second visit, we were advised that it "might" be contagious and to keep her home. However, no one she has been in contact with, including my husband and I, have any sign of developing the rash, and my daughter is healthy in every other way (no fever, etc). In fact, I think she is even more active! She does complain of itching at times, but other than that, there is no sign of anything wrong other than the red blotches on her arms and legs. Anyway, after the non-answer from my doctor, I have been researching rashes for days, and nothing seemed to fit what my daughter has. I was therefore glad to come across this post. I feel a lot better knowing that this is likely what it is starting to appear to be - another weird but mild childhood illness. Thanks for the info.

One of my girls had this mysterious rash a couple years ago. She missed several weeks of school because nobody knew what it was! They couldn't tell me what, why, how, or if it was contagious. It was horrible looking all over her face. Really bad. I was worried that she'd scar afterward but it cleared up without a problem.
