How to decrease the amount of times a toddler falls while learning to walk

July 26, 2007 Family and Parenting | FamilyHelpTree @ 5:50 pm

How to decrease the amount of times a toddler falls while learning to walk:

1. Make sure the play area is clean so there is not anything to trip on including toys, blankets, rugs, and shoes
2. Anticipate the child tripping over uneven areas or when turning quickly or navigating smaller areas and act accordingly
3. Teach the child to place their hand on a wall or doorframe when going up and down steps. This can be done by example
4. Demonstrate to the child putting out your hands when falling to minimize injury
5. Discover if the child is more stable with shoes on or bare feet and act accordingly
6. Insure the childs shoes are the proper size and fit well

Many parents pull out their hair with frustration over their child continually getting hurt and have to get New York hair transplants. Relax and follow the above tips.
