Dissapointed over iPhone 3G

July 11, 2008 Family Help Tree Rants | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 8:22 pm

I am majorly disappointed over the iPhone 3G. I really wanted one at first. Now I am not so shure. Not only were their huge lines but also a huge wait. Then I found out that no one was able to activate their iPhone 3gs because of an itunes sever crash. Wow what a bummer. Maybe I will look at a different phone from a different provider.

Hancock Prequel on the Way?

July 7, 2008 Family Help Tree Rants | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 9:34 pm

The movie Hancock was a decent attempt and entertaining. I would recommend that no children under 13 attend. The violence does not play a major role in the movie but is prevalent. The ending was not as bad as some people said although the ending plot explanation is a little bit hokey. It makes a great subject for a prequel though tying into something of a Highlander feel.

Mondays

Family Help Tree Rants | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 6:02 am

Mondays are so hard. I am away from my family and I am always left remembering the previous weekend and longing for the next one. The look on my sons and daughters face when I tell them I am leaving for work is always a little bit of a blow. I wish I could just stay home with them and my wife all day long. Fridays on the other hand are great.

You can’t deny it, I am a rough rider

June 27, 2008 Family Help Tree Rants | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 4:33 am

You can’t deny it, I am a rough rider, you do not want to mess with me. I am renting a motorcycle and setting out for some motorcycle adventures. I have some burly looking and dangerous men to ride with me (do not tell anyone that they are the EagleRider tour guides that I am paying to take me out on my first motorcycle tour). It has long been my dream to be an EagleRider on a motorcycle adventure and I finally got my chance thanks to the rest of the family going to visit relatives for a week. I just hope I can make it through the long ride I have planned and not embarrass myself in some way. If I do I am sure that the EagleRider tour guide can help me out. EagleRider was a pioneer of Harley-Davidson tour guides and motorcycle rentals. They have been around since the year 1992. You can also buy motorcycles from them and schedule and rent all kinds of off road vehicles including snowmobiles, ATVs, dirt bikes, scooters, motorcycles, watercraft, and more. You do not even have to drop off your rental at the same place you picked it up since they have so many different locations all over the place. I also signed up for their email mailing list online on their internet web site to get the latest deals in case I or my family want to rent or take a tour again.

McDonalds Love Hate Relationship

Family Help Tree Rants | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 4:25 am

I have a love hate relationship with McDonalds. On one side, I love their french fries. On the other side I hate that their food is not the healthiest. But I love their ice cream flurries. But I hate that they make me sick. I love their chicken sandwhiches, but I hate that pickle they put in there. I love that they are so cheap, but I hate that they do not have a more varied menu.

Plant a tree

June 2, 2008 Family Help Tree Rants | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 5:49 am

The environment can little stand the continued path that man kind is on. But it doesn’t have to. If every person makes a small difference in a big way we can change the world. Start today by planting a tree, going green, recycling, and conserving resources. Tomorrow you can invest in solar power, buy a hybrid car, and exercise your political vote.

Going Green? Go to the Shangri-la Botanical Gardens

Going Green? Go to the Shangri-la Botanical Gardens

It seems like everyone is going green these days, but the Shangri-la Botanical Gardens & Nature Center in Orange, Texas has really gotten it right. The Shangri La Gardens and Nature Center has earned the U.S. Green Building Council’s Platinum Certification for LEED®-NC. This means that every step was taken to make sure that this facility’s design and construction follows green ideals. From solar panels to reclaimed materials to an overall design that works to efficiently use light and reduce energy use and cost, the Shangri-la Botanical Gardens is a shining example of what it means to protect our environment.

The Shangri-la Botanical Gardens has somehow managed to pack in earth friendly construction and maintenance that works side by side with the most beautiful plants and even some surprising little creatures. A visitor can see thousands of plants, both common and unusual, such as orchids, honeysuckle, clematis flowers, and coral bean. Many types of creatures can be found here like insects, amphibians, reptiles, and spiders.
Visiting the Shangri-la Botanical Gardens has inspired me to go green in my own yard. Living in a desert like I do, water is a precious resource. By using desert plants that need less water, I can conserve water and save money too. I’ve also decided to install some solar lights around the garden. They’ll add a little sparkle to my garden in the evening, and, because they are solar, I won’t be using any additional electricity.

The city of Orange, Texas is a great place to visit, and the Shangri-la Botanical Gardens & Nature Center is a crowning jewel in the city. This Botanical Garden will be enjoyed by all; children, adults, nature lovers or even those just out for a stroll through beautiful scenery. To learn more about the Shangri-la Botanical Gardens & Nature Center visit www.shangrilagardens.org. And to learn more about the great city of Orange, Texas visit www.orangetexas.org.
