We got a new basketball hoop. Of course it took forever to assemble and we had to take apart and put together several sections because of poor directions. But finally we got it all together. Everyone was so happy to finally have it up. It was a very good one so my family and I should be able to enjoy it for many years.

We got it for free from a neighbor. The neighbor lives down the street and had put out the swing with a free sign. I asked him why it was free and he said that his dogs tore up the cushions and they were getting a new one. So we bought some new cushions for it. It is in great shape.

It is a good idea to buy a spare flash memory card (they are so cheap these days). You should also buy a spare battery and charger. I find that I am ALWAYS out of space and ALWAYS have a dead battery just when I need the camera most. By having these spares I am ready to capture precious moments no matter what. This is even more important if you have kids.

Columbia University plans to build a biohazard lab in Manhattan on Broadway at 125th Street all the way to 133 Street and across to 12th Avenue. The expansion could destroying the Upper West Side as well as the Hudson River all for the sake of adding a swimming pool, research labs, a bus depot, and storage areas. This poorly planned and ill conceived development is right along a flood plane and earthquake fault line.
