My Son Hates the Doctor

July 10, 2008 Family Health | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 3:15 pm

My son hates the doctor. I am not really sure why. He just always had. We can talk about it calmly but once he gets into the office he starts crying until we leave. He must remember the shots or something. I hope this is a temporary fear.

Hollys Fund

July 8, 2008 Family Health | Comments (1) FamilyHelpTree @ 6:28 pm

Can you imagine if you were diagnosed with Breast Cancer but were unable to get insurance? Well that is just what happened to Holly from HollysFund.com. I can not imagine how terrible this would be. Please read Holly’s story and donate to her or to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Please note I received no compensation whatsoever for this post.

Baby is Pale With No Other Symptoms - What Could It Be?

July 5, 2008 Family Health | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 5:20 am

My 7 month old Baby has been pale for the last three days. There is no fever, eating is mainly normal with slightly less appetite followed by normal appetite. Bowel movements are normal. Temperament is normal although on the calmer side. The only other thing is that she appears slightly tired in the eyes but stays awake as normal and plays and laughs still. What could this be? I will probably take her to the doctor soon but this is very strange indeed. Any ideas?

Mysterious Toddler Limp Sign of a Stroke

June 20, 2008 Family Health | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 9:50 pm

In my previous post on the Mysterious Toddler Limp, I discussed the somewhat common and somewhat uncommon circumstances and situations of a limp in toddlers and how to carefully watch for improvement as well as when to seek medical advice.

Keith Moon responded by sharing his story of how the Mysterious Toddler Limp was caused by a Stroke. Here is my response to him and seen also in the comments.

Keith,

Thank you for sharing your story. My heart and my prayers go out to you. It is definitely an indication that the limp began after the viral infection. I understand the uncertainty and the worry that you must have gone through. I am glad your sun is improving and hopefully he will make a full recovery.

How Frustrating!

June 7, 2008 Family Health | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 12:25 am

I am so frustrated! I took my son to the doctor to get his cast off and I was told that the bones were not yet fully healed. We were all excited and now he has to keep his cast on for another two weeks. We are crushed and I have no idea how we will get through the next two weeks. I barely made it this far. Sigh.

Dealing with Medical Insurance Billing and Incompetance

May 30, 2008 Family Health | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 5:27 pm

It seems like the medical billing world is one of the most incompetent and fraudulent. Even the simplest of claims that is obviously covered is tied up in red tape and paperwork with everything hinging on a daisy change of process and procedures that always fail and always pass the blame. It has to be one of the most frustrating things. It is sad that this is so unreliable and you can not be nice when dealing with these people.

Lots of sick kids

May 29, 2008 Family Health | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 6:25 am

There are lots of sick kids out there this week. I am not sure what is happening but many of them have either some kind of disease, broken limbs, eye infection, cough, cold, or other problem. Most of the parents are out and it seems to have something to do with the Holiday weekend. Maybe the changing weather? Please keep your kids well rested and healthy foods in them to avoid your own medical disasters.

Caring for an injured child

May 12, 2008 Family Health, Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 5:29 am

Caring for an injured child is never easy, especially if the injury is a broken leg, and the child is two. With all the extra time diapering, extra fussiness, and extra sympathy involved, it can really wear down the parents. I’ve learned to take each day as it comes, and look for the light at the end of the tunnel, knowing that the cast will soon come off. If you find yourself in the same situation, it’s helpful to check the internet for suggestions from other parents in the same situation, because having help from people who have been there before you is important.

Rash under the Cast

Family Health | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 5:27 am

My son is developing a rash under his cast. He had a broken bone and needs to be in the cast for quite a few weeks. At first there were no problems but now there is a terrible rash under his cast. We began padding it with maxi pads and putting some cream on it regularly. The doctor says to use a little fan to try and dry it out and continue the padding and the cream.
