Time to Swim

May 19, 2008 Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 12:04 am

It is finally time to swim! The days just got hot enough for swimming. Even though the public pools will not be open just yet we are going to go swimming at some friends houses. I do not own a pool myself because of the high maintenance needed and the danger of drowning with an unattended child. But I love to swim and I am excited for the beginning of this season.

Caring for an injured child

May 12, 2008 Family Health, Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 5:29 am

Caring for an injured child is never easy, especially if the injury is a broken leg, and the child is two. With all the extra time diapering, extra fussiness, and extra sympathy involved, it can really wear down the parents. I’ve learned to take each day as it comes, and look for the light at the end of the tunnel, knowing that the cast will soon come off. If you find yourself in the same situation, it’s helpful to check the internet for suggestions from other parents in the same situation, because having help from people who have been there before you is important.

Grandpa is coming for a visit

April 28, 2008 Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 3:49 pm

Grandpa is coming for a visit. My kids are very excited this week. Their Grandpa is coming over for the whole week. It is so important for kids to spend time with their grandparents. My son absolutely loves my grandpa. They have so much fun playing together. Not to mention it gives me a chance to get some work done around the house.

Mother’s Day is coming up soon; make it a special one

April 12, 2008 Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 3:45 am

Mother’s Day is coming up soon and I want to do something special for both of the mother’s in my life. I want to make mother’s day special for both my wife (who is a great mom) and for my mom (who was my first great example of what a spectacular mom could be). I think we should celebrate mothers the whole year long but since they only have one official day it is up to us to make it a special one. Now normally we all go out to breakfast for Mother’s Day at Denny’s. And that is a fun tradition. But this year I want to do something special. I have several ideas of what to do and I may do all of them in fact. One of the most important things to do on Mother’s Day is to spend some good quality time with the special mothers in your life. If you are a long distance away you can use 1800Flowers to send a special Mothers’ Day greeting. 1800Flowers is currently running a “Celebrate Mom For Who She Is Contest”. The 1800Flowers “Celebrate Mom For Who She Is Contest”. Please visit their web site for details on the contest and how to enter.

Went out to Sweet Tomatoes

Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 3:37 am

We all went out to Sweet Tomatoes today. I do not really like the restaurant that much. Many people I know swear by it though. It is a little too pricey for a glorified salad bar. But they do have this great chicken noodle soup. There are huge chunks of chicken in it. That is pretty good. I get that and a baked potato every time I eat there.

Why are Girls with Pigtails so Cute?

April 10, 2008 Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 9:40 pm

Why are Girls with Pigtails so Cute? My daughter is 4 months old. It is just so cute when she has two pigtails on the top of her head sticking straight up. The other day my wife was at the store. She had my daughter with this style of hair. She received even more than usual complements and cooing from every mother in the store. It is too cute. Of course when you take the pigtails out her hair looks all crazy :)

Successful Sleeping at 4 Months

April 8, 2008 Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 5:46 pm

My daughter is finally successfully sleeping at 4 months. The difference was made when we started letting her cry herself to sleep. She seemed to get the message quickly and suddenly adjusted her sleeping pattern. Another important part was feeding her less at night and more during the day.

Dealing With Problems at School

April 3, 2008 Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 9:50 pm

Dealing With Problems at School

As a parent one of the hardest things you will have to deal with is problems that occur at school. In many cases parents are unaware of problems or their child will provide innacurate information. It can be difficult for a parent to decide between their child and a teacher. Many other factors can effect your child such as other children, improper teaching, difficulty in a certain subject, learning disabilities and more. Try to be patient and flexible when it comes to these school problems.
