July 1, 2008 Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 11:42 pm

The Fourth of July is a special holiday. It holds so many wonderful memories for me and my family. Barbecues and fireworks and lounging in the pool. I hope you have a wonderful and safe Fourth of July. Please remember to watch your kids around water.

Boycotting Nap Time

Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 10:31 pm

At some point in an infants life they will switch from three naps per day to two. Then as they age from two naps per day to only one nap per day. Every parent knows that multiple nap times are like a gift from heaven for your sanity. To preserve the two nap times as long as possible try and keep a strict schedule of bed times, meals, and awake times. When the switch does occur do everything possible to insure it is a long and restful single nap.

Fussiness After a Nap

June 28, 2008 Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 1:57 am

I do not know why but my son is very fussy after a nap. Maybe it is just the time of day. Or maybe it has to do with his sleep. He usually wakes up very fussy no matter how long his nap was. A snack and some down time usually help. The worst is when friends are over when he wakes up. I guess he needs extra attention at this time.

Fun in the Sprinklers

June 26, 2008 Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 9:33 pm

Now that summer is here things can get pretty hot outside. My kids and I hate being stuck in the house. And we do not have a pool. So we basically spend all summer playing in the sprinklers and the hose. It is so much fun and everyone really enjoys it. The risk of drowning is greatly reduced and we all have a great time staying cool. Give it a try.

This Father’s Day was Very Special

June 16, 2008 Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 12:15 am

This Father’s day was very special to my family. We had my parents over for a barbecue. The grill broke but amazingly my dad was able to fix it just in time. We had some fun gifts and good food. The cards this year seemed to be particularly funny. Did you have a special Father’s Day as well? Remember the fathers in your life today and celebrate them.

Away from Family when Traveling

June 12, 2008 Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 5:49 pm

It is very difficult to be away from your family when traveling. I often get home sick and greatly miss my family. There are a few things you can do that will help when you are traveling and away from your family:

1. Call home frequently

2. Cary some family photos with you

3. Have your family travel with you

4. Take a short trip

5. Use an internet web cam to see your family

Target Archery

Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 5:43 pm

Target Archery is a great sport for kids and adults alike. This is a competitive and popular sport that I highly recommend. Almost anyone from any ability level or physical level can participate. It is a great way to get kids outdoors and involved in something. Target Archery also makes a great family activity. Give it a try for yourself.

Boat Safe with your kids, Boat Smart for your family, and Boat Sober - it’s the law!

May 30, 2008 Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 9:28 pm

Keeping your kids safe starts with raising awareness about major issues including Boating Operating Under the Influence. Many families are out on the lakes during the summer months in Arizona Boating and it just isn’t always safe. We can help to make it safer with Boating Education Online and by designating a sober boating operator. It is just as illegal and just as dangerous to boat with .08 blood alcohol level as it is to drive a car. Please read more information on the Arizona Game and Fish Department web site and watch the below commercials:

Cute Hair

May 24, 2008 Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 5:48 am

My baby daughter has the cutest hair. It is either cute in pig tails and she looks like a who from whoville, or it is messed up in a mohak. Sometimes it sticks straight up in the air. She is two years old and she is just so cute.
