Son Potty Training Time

August 19, 2008 Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 6:50 pm

Well it is upon us. Potty training time for my 2.5 year old son. He is now very interested in the potty. We capitalized on it by purchasing a potty seat for him which he also loves. Now we are buying pullup pants with his favorite cartoon character. He is very excited and hopefully we will have him potty trained soon.

Some Days Are Just Hard

August 15, 2008 Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 9:05 pm

Some days are just hard. You know the kind of day I am talking about. Everyone is in a bad mood including you. Patience is running thin. The kids are cranky and defiant and nothing is going easy or well. Just try and stay calm and understand that some days are just like this. Tomorrow is usually much better. Try and breath and hold out till then.

Take a day off for your kids

August 14, 2008 Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 9:13 pm

How often have you taken a day off from work? How often have you taken off a day from work to spend time with your kids? I highly recommend doing this once in awhile. Take the day off and take your kids out. Go to a movie or out to the mall. Do something fun and something that takes a long time. Spend time talking to and playing with them.

Daughter sleeping better

August 13, 2008 Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 4:17 pm

Daughter sleeping better

My daughter is now sleeping better at night. We were a little tough on her and she still wakes up at night sometimes and cries. The difference now is that she can put herself back to sleep. Going into the room just wakes her up more and she only cries for a few minutes. She is about 8 months old now.

Most Play Groups are Not a Good Fit

August 12, 2008 Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 11:16 pm

I have found from experience that most play groups are not a good fit. Either the house is too far or the kids are a different age or there are other huge differences in the participating groups. The key to success is to not give up, make the best of the situation to socialize, and to form sub groups from the individual members that are a good fit.

Starting Solid Foods

July 25, 2008 Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 7:39 pm

My daughter is starting solid foods. I was surprised that she loved them so much that she instantly no longer wanted to nurse or eat baby food of any kind anymore, ever. Her favorite has to be bread. I give her a mild wheat bread and she just loves it. Some fruits like banana are also her favorites. She seems in a real hurry to grow up.

This is a great time to spend time together with your family outdoors

July 21, 2008 Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 8:35 pm

This is a great time to spend time together with your family outdoors. If you have not already done so now is the time to take your family members on a camping, hiking, fishing, or hunting trip. Get out into the wilderness with your family and really bond. It is a great experience.

Itsy Bitsy Spider

July 9, 2008 Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 3:47 am

My kids and I love singing before bed each night. Our favorite song has to be the itsy bitsy spider. We sing the whole song through several times. Of course we do all of the hand motions and jump around too. It is a great and fun way to spend time with our kids and make them feel special before bed time.

Pictures and Videos of Your Kids

July 2, 2008 Family and Parenting | Comments (0) FamilyHelpTree @ 5:24 am

You have to take pictures and videos of your kids. Why? Because they will ask for it. Can you imagine being old and alone and wanting to see your kids but you can’t? Well you can if you take pictures and videos of them. I suggest doing a hard drive, dvd, and web YouTube backup of everything to make triple sure.
